"Halo" means mix. "Malo" means bad. Together, they called us a bad mix. We think it became something new.
We're a Filipino American diaspora brand built on the very specific, very chaotic experience of growing up between two cultures.
Every Filipino American kid knows the drill: get roasted in Tagalog, grounded in English, fed lumpia at literally every occasion (weddings, graduations, funerals), and told to respect your elders by an auntie who's currently roasting your outfit in front of the whole family. You grow up halfway between two cultures, fluent in neither language but perfectly fluent in side eye.
That's the whole diaspora experience in one phrase, and somebody should finally put it on a shirt.
That's HaloMalo. We make apparel for the kids who survived the tsinelas, the titas who run the group chat like a small government, and the honorary Filipinos (partners, best friends, in laws) who got pulled into the chaos and never left. If you know what a balikbayan box is, we've got a shirt for you. If you just found out an hour ago because you're meeting the family this weekend, we've got a shirt for you too.
We're not here to explain the culture. We're here to laugh at it, with it, from the inside. No translation needed, no permission required. Style you'd actually wear. Jokes you don't have to footnote. A mix that stopped apologizing for itself a long time ago.
Mixed. Styled. Funny. That's the whole business plan.
